Garden Club Member Named Crofton Citizen of the Year

Congratulations to Crofton Village Garden Club member Debbie Risher, named by the Crofton Civic Association as Crofton Citizen of the Year – an honor shared with Marsha Perry, Debbie’s co-chair for Crofton’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.

“Marsha’s enthusiasm and ideas were infectious while Debbie is a business leader who helped move things forward,” said Steve Grimaud, President of the Crofton Civic Association, in presenting the award.

In appreciation and recognition of the ability, dedication, effort, and leadership
that you exhibited while guiding the Crofton 50th Anniversary
Committee to a very successful conclusion.

Another garden club member and her husband, Gillian and Roy Myers, received this honor in 2013 for their work in medicine and service to the community.

Others honored at the 2015 awards banquet sponsored by the Crofton Chamber of Commerce and held on November 5, 2015 include:

  • Bob, Julie and Robert Peterson were honored by Arundel Volunteer Fire Department with “Volunteer of the Year” awards.
  • Alissa Santoro was named “Citizen of the Year” by The Greater Crofton Council for her work with the Crofton Village Pool and Recreation Association.
  • James Harvey was named “Rotarian of the Year” by the Crofton Rotary Club.
  • Mary Stanton was named “Volunteer of the Year” by the Crofton Christian Caring Council for her work to expand the baby pantry at Community United Methodist Church.
  • Gary Heldt and Mike Thomas were named “Business Leaders of the Year” by Crofton Chamber of Commerce.

Congratulations to all of these outstanding community leaders and the many volunteers who make Crofton a very special place to live and work.
