Standard Flower Show in Crofton, May 16

Crofton Village Garden Club will present “School Life Circa 1950” on Saturday, May 16, from 1 to 4 pm, at the Crofton Community Library, 1681 Riedel Road, Crofton, Maryland 21114. Admission is free and the show is open to the public. Everyone is welcome!

What is a Standard Flower Show?

A “Standard Flower Show” is the official title of a flower show that conforms to standards established by National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC). The purposes of a Standard Flower  Show are to educate club members and the viewing public, to stimulate interest in horticulture and floral design, to provide an outlet for creative expression, and to promote the love of gardening.

The Flower Show Theme

“School Life Circa 1950” will feature floral designs, horticultural specimens, and youth exhibits. Example exhibits will represent such topics as “Science Lab”, “Reading, Writing, Arithmetic”, and “Teacher Appreciation”. Judging of exhibits will be based on NGC standards.

Flower Show Exhibits:

Two educational exhibits will be on display… One showcasing the club’s May Day Basket project and the other promoting BayWise gardening practices to protect the Chesapeake Bay.

Directions: From Rts. 3 and 424, turn onto Rt. 424 (Davidsonville Rd.). Make a left at the third light onto Riedel Road. The library is on the right past the Crofton Convalescent Center.
