Chef Pope Cooks w/ Herbs for February Meeting

Crofton Village Garden Club enjoyed a tasting party at our February meeting, thanks to award-winning Chef Zachary Pope of Roundz Gourmet Market and Catering in Gambrills.  He came armed with curley parsley, chives, basil, rosemary, chervil and mint to introduce us to their characteristics and demonstrate how to use them in our food preparation. The presentation was very informative and enjoyable, thanks to Chef Pope’s depth of knowledge and his personal style.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a “taste” is worth more – and members enjoyed the opportunity to taste samples of his work.  Manyof us went home from that meeting, vowing to visit Roundz Gourmet Market for a larger serving of the delicious tomato basil soup he prepared for us.

Not surprising then, that so many members accepted Chef Pope’s invitation for a private lunch at Rounds on February 18. It was delicious!
