New Info for Crofton Village Garden Club Field Trip

The CVGC road trip to Pearl Buck’s historic home on June 2 has been cancelled due to an insufficient number of interested parties.  If you have paid for the trip your money will be refunded.
We are now planning to visit the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens instead.   While the gardens are not at their full peak, they do have hundreds of white and pink lilies blooming.  The park has a board walk where you can view the Anacostia River wildlife including herons, canada geese, and other birds.

According to the website, a homesick war veteran from Maine started the Aquatic Gardens as a hobby with a few wild waterlilies in a single pond.  Time and diligence turned a trickle of curious visitors to a stream of customers for a growing commercial garden of twenty eight ponds.  The dazzling displays were purchased in 1938 by the Federal Government to become the only National Park to display cultivated aquatic plants.

Members will meet at the Crofton Country Club at 9:30 AM to carpool; directions will be provided.

After our 10:30 tour, we will go to Grace’s Steak and Seafood, located at the juncture of Route 450 and Route 704 (Martin Luther King Highway.)   Directions will be provided.   The restaurant serves food hibachi style, and you can choose from chicken, beef, shrimp, or scallops.   Along with the entree, a salad, vegetables, and fried or steamed rice are included.  Desserts and drinks are available at additional cost.  Prices range from $14.00 – $22.00.

Please RSVP to Joan Para at 410-721-3960.
